Bearice Ramaela is the second born amongst seven siblings. She is the only one lucky enough to have attended and completed both primary and secondary school. However, school for her was full of downs and more downs, especially when it came to school fees. Secondary school was especially difficult for Beatrice and it is only after clearing her fourth form that she managed to get some bursary funds to settle the huge bill she had left behind at Wamba Girls School in Samburu County.
Having scored a D grade in her KCSE and with her family’s financial situation, Beatrice did not have much of a choice but to stay home and await a miracle. The miracle came in May 2019 in the form of Fireside’s Women in Engineering program which Beatrice has since joined and is training in IT and Telecoms.
Her dream growing up was to become a teacher and she looks forward to successfully completing the internship program so that she can teach other girls from her village in Samburu IT skills, and also help her other siblings who have dropped out of school get an opportunity to complete their studies.
Her ultimate goal is to alleviate her family from the state of poverty that they are currently in.
