Safaricom Women in Business
Josephine Mwanjewe

Josephine has spent most of her life in her home County, Taita Taveta.

While in school, most of the time her parents could not afford her school fees and she would be chased away from school and spend weeks or even months at home before returning to school, only for her to be chased away again.

Despite facing these financial crunches and academic inconsistencies, Josephine managed to complete her O level education and attain a D- grade. She afterwards enrolled for computer classes but had to drop out midway, due to financial issues.

Later, she joined KK Guards Company and worked as security guard until 2017. She has since been at home unemployed until the opportunity to join Fireside’s Women in engineering program came up. Growing up, Josephine always wanted to become a caterer but her interest in technology has now beaten a new career path for her. She is excited to be part of the Women in Engineering initiative and looks forward to acquiring all the knowledge and skill there is to gain.
